Bowery (14u)
At the 14u age division we continue heavy work on core stick skills. We push players to execute stick work with precision and at full speed in drills, small-sided games and in games. We want basic lacrosse movements (catching, throwing, dodging etc.) to become “natural” to the girls at this level, where the body begins to execute movement with less thought. Players begin to specialize into positions. We begin to spend more time teaching not just techniques but also individual “strategy”, like when to dodge and how to set up your dodge. Team defensive concepts become a bit more of a focus with simple slide packages including 1st, 2nd and 3rd slides. Offensive strategy comes into play as we advance the explanations around movement and reactions to other players on the field to create balance and spacing in an offense. Odd man drills remain a staple as they both develop lacrosse IQ and demand proficient stick work in high speed competitive situations.
